From 10 to 13 September, Poreč hosted the seventh edition of the international TunIstra – Big Game Fishing tournament, which once again brought together top anglers from Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. The competition featured 35 teams and 125 participants, and over three days of fishing, a total of 75 fish were caught, weighing more than 1.1 tons, including seven tuna.
Although challenging weather conditions marked the first day, the crews successfully battled the waves and demonstrated exceptional skill at sea. The heaviest catches were weighed and scored each evening on Poreč Riva, where visitors could witness the impressive specimens live.
Victory went to the local Istrian team eFISHent, second place to CORSARA, which also caught the largest tuna of the tournament (128.82 kg), while third place was taken by DEEJAY TUNA. A special highlight was the presentation of a legendary handmade fishing rod from the 1980s, once used to land tuna weighing nearly 300 kilograms.
Alongside the sporting program, the festival also offered rich entertainment and culinary experiences on Poreč Riva, concluding with the award ceremony on Saturday evening.
